Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or Benign prostate enlargement (BPE) or simply prostate gland enlargement is common in older males. About half of all men ages between 50 to 60 have BPH. Prostate gland is a part male reproductive system. It is present below bladder around urethra. The tube that transports urine from the bladder out of penis (urethra) passes through the center of the prostate.Hence enlargement causes blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder. It may cause other urinary and kidney problems. BPH is not cancerous and can not turn into cancer. However BPH and prostate cancer can happen at same time.
